Whilst the Big Team was going down bravely at Stenhousemuir in the Scottish Cup, Cans' stars of the future were showing off their skills at Mosset Park. The youngsters demonstrated their technique using new equipment and showed off their new training kit - all sponsored by Tesco Forres. The lads (and their parents and supporters) then tucked into some healthy options provided by the Tesco Food Hall. A raffle for Youth Development Funds raised over £200.
Forres Mechanics 2 Buckie Thistle 1
The U15s recorded their first victory of the season in this October 2nd fixture and played some great football in the process, much to the delight of their enthusiastic support. The win was more comfortable than the score-line suggests with the Cans displaying great energy and not a little skill all around the pitch. Shay Ewing and Dom Abbate were on target for the home side with the Buckie counter coming from what can only be described as a very dubious penalty. The win has taken some time but the lads should now kick on with confidence and display the real talent which lies in the team.
Dingwall 8 - Forres Mechanics 0
A heavy defeat away in this September 25th encounter at Victoria Park but a vastly improved performance by the Cans. The lads played some excellent passing football and Robert Oliphant was unlucky enough to hit woodwork twice. That elusive win looms larger.
Mechanics 1 - Fort William 14
A heavy defeat of the U15s at the hands of Fort William in this September 18th fixture at Roysvale. The boys played well going forward at times with some strong running in midfield by Robert Oliphant and a well taken goal from Aiden Mackay. But they need to learn how to defend effectively or it is going to be a long season.
