The Under 20s took on Elgin at Borough Briggs in an evening game on Monday, August 14th and came out on top 5 - 4 in an avalanche of goals.

The young Cans were simply superb for 70 minutes leaving the City starlets -  and a sizeable home crowd - bamboozled and bemused. Goals from Garry Tweedie, Dylan Harvey and a superb hat-trick from Alan McPhee left the sizeable home support gasping after Elgin had opened the scoring.

Cruising at 5-1, Forres were awarded their second penalty of the night with 20 minutes to go - and controversially called up their keeper to take the spot kick. Whatever their motivation, the strategy backfired spectacularly on the Cans when the Elgin keeper saved, leaving the Forres goal unguarded. Panic ensued as keeper and defence sprinted back to cover the open goal.  This was achieved but a rejuvenated and fired up Elgin then put a tiring Forres team on the rack, slotting home three goals in the final fifteen minutes, one a very dubious penalty.

Despite the antics of the final quarter, this was a very, very promising performance by a squad with no fewer than seven players yet to reach their 18th birthdays.
