DO Too Strong for Cans

In their September 11th fixture, a stuffy U13s team held out for 30 minutes against DO Soccer but tired and eventually went down 0-8 at home.

Defeat at DO

In their September 11th fixture, the U15s made the long journey to Balintore on the Easter Ross seaboard and went down 1-10 to a fine DO Soccer side. The score-line does a disservice to the Forres boys who buckled down and produced some fine football.  But it was just not to be their day - even the goal was an o.g.!

Cans Go Down at Lossie

In their September 11th fixture, the U17s went down to Lossie after taking an early lead from a well worked indirect kick, Kevin Johnston driving home the layback. Lossie then took control in midfield and went 3-1 up with only a fine Jamie Brown penalty save preventing further damage.  The Cans were given brief hope of a fightback when Craig Dryburgh bent home a beautiful free-kick from 25 yards, but a Lossie penalty clinched things for the home side with ten minutes left.

Heartbreak at Speyside

Speyside Thistle 5  Forres Mechanics 4

This opening fixture of the season on August 21st saw heartbreak for a battling Cans' side as they went down to a late strike in a nine-goal thriller at Cromdale. There were great performances all around the park, much to the appreciation of the large travelling support.  Scorers for Forres were Callum Kerrigan (2), Jack Johnston and Neil Owen.

Wick Hand Out a Lesson!

Forres Mechanics 0  Wick Academy 18

This September 4th fixture was a real thumping for the home team with a big and skilful Caithness outfit scoring at will in the final period. The Mechanics had two key defenders in Connor Anderson and Ibrahim Beg carried off during the match but by that time the damage to thescoreline had been done. A learning experience for this young Forres team. Both Beg and Anderson will miss the next game away at Tain and the latter may be out for a few weeks.

U15s Go Down Fighting Against Rothes

Rothes 6  Forres 0

The U15s went down to a very competent Rothes team at Mackessack Park on August 28th.  The lads were unlucky not to take the lead in the opening half hour in fact with new signing Aiden Mackay particularly unfortunate in front of goal. Rothes were worth their win in the end but three goals in the final 15 minutes does not reflect a very good performance from the Mechanics.

U15s Sign Up

At Mosset Park last week, Forres Mechanics signed up eighteen of the district’s most talented under-15 players. The boys donned their new strips and enjoyed a short session on the superbly presented home pitch.

Coach Stuart Quilter was full of praise for the new squad, “We have a great blend of lads this season. There is no doubt that we will score goals with real pace up front and in midfield. We also have a very solid back line, so look forward to the season with confidence.”

The boys kicked off the season on Sunday, 21 st August just losing out in a nine goal thriller at Strathspey. Scorers for the Cans were Johnston, Owen and Kerrigan (2).
