Forres Mechanics recent unbeaten run came to a end on Wednesday night when they lost 2-1 at home to Brora Rangers. The 1st ended goaless but Steve Ross scored two Brora goals within three minutes of each other to give the away side the advantage. Forres did pull a goal back when Captain Graeme Grant socred a very rare goal in the dying minutes but ran out of time to get something from the match. F/T - Forres 1 Brora Rangers 2
10 man Forres came back from 4-1 down to league leaders Buckie Thistle and win the tie on pens to march through to the 2nd round of the Highland league cup. Buckie took the lead just after 3 minutes through Shaun Wood but Forres pulled a goal back from John Cameron and were then reduced to 10 men when Groat was shown the red card. In the 2nd half Buckie raced into 4-1 lead with goals from Wood, Dorrat and Mcleod. Stuart Soane then pulled a goal back for Forres with a penalty on the hour mark just before Buckie were also reduced to 10 players when McKinnon was sent off. Five minutes later Forres were back in the game when Lee Fraser scored and ten minutes later the comeback was complete when Cameron hit his 2nd of the match and force the game into extra-time. 30 mins of extra-time resulted in no more goals and moved the game into penalties which Forres came out on top when Buckie failed to convert two of their pens and send Forres into the next round with a home tie with Cove Rangers . Forres twice came back away to Wick in their league fixture today with both clubs going home with a share of the points. Wick took the lead after only eight mins with a goal from Anderson but the Cans equalised through Stuart Soane and both sides went into half-time a goal a piece. Wick then took the lead a second time but it took until the 83rd minute when sub Garry Tweedie pulled the cans level and insure both clubs ended the game with a point. F/T - Wick 2 Forres 2.
Forres have been drawn at home to Clach in the 1st Round of the North Cup with the tie due to be played on the 22nd of April. The winners of that tie will be away to Halkirk Utd on the 29th of April.
Lee Fraser hit his 100th goal for the club as the Cans moved into the next round of the League Cup with a 5-2 win at Keith. It took only to the 1st minute when a Simon Allan free kick from the left was headed in by Lee Fraser who celebrated his 100 goals after 210 appearances for the club. Eight minutes the Cans were two in front after a Simon Allan corner was headed home from Ross McPherson. Just after the 23 mins Keith pulled a goal back from Barbour and the half ended with Forres just in front. The second half started like the first half with Forres yet again on the score sheet but this time through John Cameron and 15 mins later Cameron hit his 2nd from a powerful run and a perfect pass by Simon Allan. After 72 mins Keith pulled another back from Hale but on the 90th minutes they scored again but this time in their own net to put Forres into the next round of the cup against Buckie Thistle. Forres Mechanics made it three league victories in a row, with a midweek win at home to Strathspey Thistle on Wednesday night with 1st half goals from Cameron and McGovern were enough to seal all three points. Forres also travelled to Fort William on Saturday and came away with a victory while also getting on the score sheet six times. Alan Pollock opened his account for the club with a goal after 42 mins after the home side had taken the lead through Stark. Stuart Soane then put the Cans ahead with a goal bang on half-time. In the 2nd half the home side were back in the game with a penalty from Davidson just before the hour mark, but Lee Fraser hit back with his 98th and 99th goals for the club to put the Cans firmly in the lead. Forres came back from two goals down to claim all three league points in an exciting match played in Inverness today. Clach started the better team and took the lead just after the half hour mark through Maclennan and added another six minutes later from Lawrie and went into half-time with a deserved lead. Forres came out in the 2nd half a different team and pulled one back six minutes into the half with Liam Baxter, and then Stuart Soane pulled the club level just before the hour mark. In the last twenty minutes Forres continued to press for the winner which came with Craig McGovern just five minutes later before Soane capped an amazing comeback and his 2nd of the match.
