Forres Mechanics made the long journey North to Brora and came back to Forres with no league points and still looking for a win after the first two games of the season. The first half ended goaless with both clubs having chances but neither keeper was tested. In the 2nd half the home side took the lead with Craig Campbell firing home and in the last 15 mins Brora doubled their lead when Soane brought down Brindle in the box and Gillespie made no mistake from the spot and with just a few minutes left on the clock Brora made it three when Brindle scored and seal the points for the home side. FT Brora 3 Forres 0
Forres Mechanics kicked off their new season at home to Inverurie with 3 new players making their competitive debuts for the club and it was one of them, Scott Graham who made his debut one to remember by scoring with a cracking free-kick from 22 yards into the bottom left corner of the net which gave his side the lead at half-time. The second half started slowly but came into life when a Leyden cross from the left into the centre and Selfridge was there volleying home to give both clubs a share of the spoils. FT Forres 1 Inverurie 1
Forres Mechanics will begin their 2016/17 league campaign at home to Inverurie this coming Saturday. The Cans will be hoping that we get a winning start to the season and with new signings Martin Groat, Jordan Wardrope, Scott Graham, John Cameron and Euan Storrier who would bet against it. Hopefully the team will looking to finish better than the 11th position finished last season and hopefully one or two good cup runs would be a sucess. See you all at Mosset Park on Saturday for a 3pm kick-off.
Forres Mechanics have signed Scott Graham from Brora Rangers with the midfielder penning a two year deal. Mechanics boss Charlie Rowley said "Scott adds qualilty to our squad. He has the impetus to go beyond the stikers and get goals. He will be a good asset. Forres could also be without championship winning captain Ross MacPherson next season who is looking to take a break from football. However, Forres have not yet given up hope of persuading MacPherson to return playing in time for the big kick-off. The club can also confirm that Stuart Soane has also re-signed for the new season.
The club have released their pre-season fixtures with only one home fixture due to be played at home because they want to give the best chance of recovering the pitch after the recent work done to improve the drainage problems. The fixtures are as follows:-
Saturday, July 2nd v Fochabers (at Pinefield, Elgin)
Saturday, July 9th v Inverness City (away)
Tuesday, July 19th v Inverness Caledonian Thistle (at Mosset Park)
Saturday, July 16th v Buckie Rovers (away)
Saturday, July 23rd v Hermes (away)
The season will kick-off on Saturday, July 30th at home to Inverurie Locos in the Highland League.
The club have announced that Steven Fraser has left the club after agreeing terms with Deveronvale. The continued travelling from Aberdeen and lack of time to train with the team heavily influenced his decision. Given Stevens passion for Forres we would imagine it's been a tough decision. Steve joins Duncan Jones in leaving the club this summer with potentially more to come and we wish them both well and thank them for their commitment to the Cans.
Two players that are joining the club are Martin Groat and Jordon Wardrope who have both come from Strathspey Thistle and we welcome both players to the club.
Also, the 2016/17 Highland league fixtures have been released with Forres starting the season at home to Inverurie Locos on the 30th of July followed by away Brora Rangers on the 6th of August.
