High Flying Jags Preview

Written by

After the loss at Brora, we looked to bounce back, firstly welcoming Deveronvale to Mosset park. To be honest it has been our worst performance to date, however the most pleasing aspect was our ability to get the three points when having not played well.

Box to box our football was not good enough, with an over reliance on going long to Lee Fraser. However we defended resolutely throughout, and were clinical in front of goal.  The combination of those two elements were good enough to get us the home win.

We then welcomed Fraserburgh and fell to a disappointing 2-0 defeat. This game highlighted to me that at this level small margins are the difference between winning and losing. We played better than we did the previous week, creating more than ten chances, but failed to take any, whereas the Broch had four shots at goal and scored twice.  Effectively a flip reversal on the game against Vale, where we wereclinical, this time the Broch took their chances.

Forres pick up first league win of the season

Written by

Forres Mechanics picked up their first three points of the new season with a home win against Deveronvale who had taken the lead through Gary Harris who scored just before the 20 minute mark. However, their lead was short lived two minutes later when Lee Fraser beat former Cans defender Steve Fraser and get his goals tally up and running for the new season and send both sides into half-time one goal apiece. Lee Fraser then doubled his tally for the season when he outjumped the away defence and head the Cans in front and should have completed his hat-trick when he failed to convert and injury time penalty. FT Forres 2 Deveronvale 1.

A Tough Start to the Season

Written by

Myself, Charlie and Craig would like to thank all supporters and sponsors of the Mechanics for their continued support for the season ahead. We were handed a tough start to the new season with a home game against locos and away trip to Brora. against locos we were without 6 defenders which was obviously a concern however our performance with a makeshift back 4 was pleasing, in particular our full backs for the day played very well, young Connor  at right back and Dachi at left back, the draw was the right result however given we missed a glorious chance late in the game we felt it possibly was a missed opportunity.

Forres lose to Brora

Written by

Forres Mechanics made the long journey North to Brora and came back to Forres with no league points and still looking for a win after the first two games of the season. The first half ended goaless with both clubs having chances but neither keeper was tested. In the 2nd half the home side took the lead with Craig Campbell firing home and in the last 15 mins Brora doubled their lead when Soane brought down Brindle in the box and Gillespie made no mistake from the spot and with just a few minutes left on the clock Brora made it three when Brindle scored and seal the points for the home side. FT Brora 3 Forres 0

Forres Mechanics kicked off their new season at home to Inverurie with 3 new players making their competitive debuts for the club and it was one of them, Scott Graham who made his debut one to remember by scoring with a cracking free-kick from 22 yards into the bottom left corner of the net which gave his side the lead at half-time. The second half started slowly but came into life when a Leyden cross from the left into the centre and Selfridge was there volleying home to give both clubs a share of the spoils. FT Forres 1 Inverurie 1
