Forres Mechanics FC announce that striker Ben Barron has joined Elgin City FC after a fee was agreed between the clubs. As part of the agreement, striker Dylan Lawrence will join the ‘Cans until January – both deals are pending SFA approval.
Ben joined the Cans initially on loan from Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC in March 2022 before making the move permanent that summer. Since then he became a firm favourite with teammates and supporters alike with his performances and goal-scoring exploits.
Ben stated “I have loved my time at Forres. There’s always been great support and encouragement from Steven (the manager) and the management team”.
“The boys are a great bunch of lads on and off the pitch. The committee and supporters have always been positive too”.
I am very thankful for the opportunity that Forres has given me and wish everyone at Mosset Park all the best – Forres really is a great club”.
Manager Steven MacDonald said: “Ben is a great example for any young boys who have been released from a full time football club. Not once has he blamed anyone else or felt sorry for himself, he’s just tried so hard to make himself better and improve all aspects of his game. He never missed training and was regularly doing extra himself.
“It’s been a pleasure for everyone at Forres Mechanics FC to play a small part in his footballing journey. We didn’t want to lose Ben so soon but there is no way we would have stopped him progressing to a higher level and as he is still only 18 it’s exciting to see how high he can now go”.
“Thank you and best wishes for the future Ben, you’ve been a credit to yourself and your parents. Good luck at Elgin”.
Best wishes Ben from all at Forres Mechanics FC 🟤🟡
